Internship Opportunities

DULT in collaboration with Connected Places and Energy Systems Catapults and Indian Institute of Science (IISc) is looking for potential candidates interested in doing internship on assessing the impacts of pedestrianizing of an urban street, in terms of Quality of Life (QoL) and other parameters. The internship is for a period of five months (tentatively between October 2020 - February 2021).

Project Description

The Innovating for Clean Air (IFCA) programme is initiated to promote and support activities in order to improve air quality. One of the key objectives of the programme is Clean Air Street; i.e. promoting pedestrian-only street in the Central Business District (CBD) of Bengaluru. On account of this initiative, Church Street will be closed for motorized vehicles every Saturday and Sunday for 5 months tentatively from October 17, 2020. This initiative will demonstrate the benefits of pedestrianisation focusing on all three main pillars of sustainability such as environment, social and economy and QoL.

Deadline: October 10, 2020

Role Description
The internship will involve the following responsibilities:
  • Field investigation and data collection,
  • Data analysis to measure the impacts before and after pedestrianization of urban street,
  • Extensive stakeholder engagement,
  • Candidates will be required to visit the project location frequently for data collection and other project related works.
Educational Qualification
The internship positions are available for both third/final year students of Undergraduate (UG) program in Civil Engineering as well as for first/second year students of Postgraduate (PG) program in Transportation Engineering/Planning. Previous experience in traffic/pedestrian surveys is desirable.
